Its June 29th ......U all know this but the reason to start with this is that its been exactly 1 year since HCL came to our college for placement. Its been a long year after dat. The college got over by april 2008 and ive been waiting for the call letter since then.........
Here am i wondering wat to fill in the blog and came up with an idea of doing an assessment of my Corporate Lyf that gonna start soon..
*Most of the ideas r from a wonderful book by CHAD FOWLER i came across.*
HISTORY :
The late 90's saw the boom in IT industry in INDIA and it was mostly due to the overseas IT industries. It was the time when most of the Americans went Jobless and Indians began to establish themselves in the IT field @ Americans' own backyard. As a result of this More Americans got Jobless and more Indians made them sweat for their earning.
The Reason :
* Indians worked with the same efficiency but for even 1/10th of the salary of the Americans or Europeans.
* Working hours r much higher than them.
* High proficiency in English as most of colleges hav English as their first preference.
etc....etc.......
This was the situation in the late 90's and the Early 2000's.......
Enough of the History. Lets come to the present situation>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
PRESENT SITUATION :
All these years we have been riding on our higher English profieciency and low cost . Unlike in the past, The present situation does not favor India much anymore. There are lots of competition arising in the form of CHINA,PHILLIPINES.....etc....
China always had this non-English attitude which led to their downfall in IT fields...But now there are about 5 Million English speaking Graduates coming out each year. The same is the case with Phillipines and other countries...If there is no problem with their English and cost ..The IT majors have no reason to not to go to them. Thus reducing India's growth in IT.......
The IT majors are even targeting European countries like Hungary and Ukraine as they are MULTI-LINGUAL and as they have to establish themselves in Europe.
So................Its Heating Up ova here.............................................
WHAT I MUST PRESUME AND WORK AT :
The trend followed by most Indian Engineers is that they get into much "BALANCED MARKET"
Lemme explain this to you...........
The way i differentiate BALANCED and UNBALANCED market is as follows.....
Persons in UNBALANCED markets are those who are well prepared with cutting-edge technologies and new programming languages. Assume ".NET" is an emerging technology at present. If u r a programmer who is well versed with .NET now, You can demand more salary from the Industry. This is meant by UNBALANCED market and you can excel with in this until it becomes a BALANCED market.
What i mean here is ......Sticking with the previous assumption of .NET, As the days pass by we get lot of programmers attracted to .NET and as they get hold of the handbooks of .NET...They too get more proficiency with .NET and give a tough competition. Thus reducing the cost of the .NET programmer until the market becomes a BALANCED one.
Most importantly we must know that when a company recruits us, give training and offer 3 lacs/annum or anything........"IT IS SIMPLY THE INVESTMENT THEY MAKE ON US."
Just take this in a business point of view...U get to invest on something to get profit. The same is the case with the IT companies. They risk their money, resources and time on us to get their profit. So they expect only "value for money" from us.
On the other hand, From the employee point of view ....remember that "WE INVEST OUR TIME AND KNOWLEDGE" on them. Its only whether we get the apt income or incentive for the effort we had put.
There are some points to be remembered here......
* Update with cutting-edge technologies....Make urself valid all the time.
* My job is a Business that expects profit on both sides.
* The most important thing than all above is the commitment we put on our work.
These r the things that came to my mind and thought of sharing this ..........And i hope i don overdo this presumption thing......

very correct & good info!!
do mention the URL with the article (frm next time)
BTW chinese have english speaking people but they are not intensely business driven right now (as in India is!!)..the big projects are still flowing to our country but only the low & less intense once are diverted to chinese n co.....dont worry, IT would be sustained in INDIA with good growth for a minimum of 8-10year
BTW we are willing investing out time in the companies (its out need) where as the companies investing 3Lk is not a need, its a mere fact that we are available and the only source..
cheerz 2 future IT employees
