Most of us wud hav made use of torrents.............
We get to download all the craps and movies and porno..[;)] with the help of torrents...........
One think we must do is to thank or atleast know about its wonderful founder.....
First of all...I wil share with u..wat i know about torrentssss.....
* After all fckin days with old P2P sharing clients like Napster,Limewire(The worst) and many others.........I came to know about torrents in mid 2004..
* Wonder wats a torrent file????
A torrent file is nothin but a collection of 'trackers' or information about other files on the running internet......ortherwise can be said as "A Pointer to the other files".
These information in the torrent files are encoded so that we cant open or edit with our editors...They can be hence opened with their torrent clients like utorrent, bit torrent, transmission etc..etc....
*What do they do ...once they are opened ???their process??
In the olden days...we used to see busy servers due to large no. of downloadin users..
Here, file sharing is done in much open and efficient way........
We have Seeders and Leechers.......
Seeders are those users who have 100% of the downloaded file...
Leechers are those who havent completed their download........
These 2 can share the 'file blocks' they have....The files are splitted up into blocks of 256kb each and each block is indexed with a number system...
This is used to track the seeders or leechers who has certain blocks that we dont have in our system.
The logic is simple..........."Download and Share @ same time"
This leads to the eradication of busy servers and stuff.......
* Is torrent legal???????????
Most of us will have the doubt whether torrent is legal or not.....
"Yes, Its definitely illegal........"
There r lot of complaints made by many production companies and software gaints for sharing their copywrighted materials........
The torrent uploaders nowadays are very clever...They upload the copywrighted material and makes the community responsible for that..................
The only reason for which torrent stilll exist is that...Its very difficult to track the user whos sharing the copywrighted material..(ie) The 1st seeder....
Recently ..some s/w companies in UK/US have claimed to have the program to track the first seeder (ie) the uploader...
Their logic is simple.....as the uploader will have the complete(100%) file first..
This logic can be used to find the first uploader by continuously sending fast request to all the users.....
But logic gets fcked up....when some silly tricks like uploading from another system is made....

"LONG LIVE THE TORRENTS!!!!!!!!!!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is some History!!!!!!
Torrent Systems, originally named Applied Parallel Technologies, was a parallel computing software company founded in 1993 by Rob Utzschneider and Ed Zyszkowski. The company's major product was a parallel flow based programming system called Orchestrate. The product enabled users to assemble a program using predefined components (called operators) connected by virtual datasets in a manner similar to Unix pipelines.
Torrent was acquired by Ascential Software in late 2001 for about $46 million; Orchestrate became a key part of Ascential's DataStage data integration system. When Ascential was subsequently acquired by IBM in mid-2005, DataStage became part of IBM's Information Server product.

2. Password for rar file
3. wrong files...some times
4. improper naming
5. gets stuck @ 99%
but its the best option, so far...
